Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
— 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
You can share in the mission of Schoeneck Moravian Church to follow the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in loving and serving all. Our goal is to help everyone discover rewarding and fulfilling opportunities to grow spiritually, to serve Christ, and to serve others according to their gifts, abilities, and resources. From being a part of our hospitality team, to serving in the children’s ministry to helping with our facilities and everything in between, you can find a way to make a difference.
We all have been blessed with gifts, abilities, and resources entrusted to us by God. Volunteers are crucial to the work of our church, and we would love to have you join us! Serving Schoeneck by participating in one of our committees, ministries, or teams doesn’t just benefit the church, however. You will benefit, too! Working together toward a common goal deepens your faith, builds confidence, fosters creativity and problem–solving skills, and creates long–lasting friendships.
Get Involved!
God has gifted us each in unique ways. Lean into your gifts, interests, and passions and find your place in one or more of our ongoing ministry opportunities. If you are new to Schoeneck, getting involved will help develop your gifts and abilities, make new friends, and deepen connections you may already have developed.

Do You Have Limited Time To Offer?
For whatever reason — work, school, family — many people have a busy schedule. But don’t let that stop you from getting involved! A lot of Schoeneck’s ministry teams meet just once a month, and you are always able to Zoom in to a meeting. There are also plenty of one–time special events that come up during the year where extra help is needed and greatly appreciated! A few examples are listed below…
Adopt–A–Highway — Held three times a year on a Saturday morning in April, July, and October, we care for God’s creation as part of the PennDOT Adopt–A–Highway program. Join us as we clean–up our designated 2–mile section of Jacobsburg Road. Please click the link for more information.
Community Dinner Ministry — Schoeneck offers free dinners to the community once a month from April to September. Helpers are needed for cooking during the day, and for support during the dinner itself. Please click the link for more information.
Decorating the Sanctuary — Decorating the church for Advent & Christmas (usually on a Saturday morning at the end of November or early December) or for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter (decorating for Lent would take place in February or March and decorating for Holy Week/Easter would take place in March or April). Watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Diener Corps — The Dieners Corps serves the sugarcake and coffee to the congregation during lovefeast services. You will have the opportunity to sign up for the services you prefer to attend. Please click the link for more information.
Holiday Hope Chest Program — Schoeneck participates in the Holiday Hope Chest Christmas Shoebox Program in November every year. Each holiday season, gift–wrapped shoeboxes filled with age–appropriate gifts make a meaningful, positive impact in the lives of underserved youth. All donations remain within the Lehigh Valley. Please click the link for more information.
Nazareth Day — Nazareth Day is held on the third Saturday of July in the Nazareth Borough Park each year. Schoeneck has a stand (in a nice shady spot!) and volunteers are needed to represent Schoeneck to the greater Nazareth community. Shifts are usually available in two-hour time slots — you can sign up for just one or as many as you like! Watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Property Work Days or Church Clean–Up Days — Usually scheduled once or twice a year. Needed help might include gardening (planting, mulching, weeding), painting, scrubbing or vacuuming, raking leaves, light construction, etc. Many hands make light work! Watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Schoeneck’s Annual Rummage Sale — Held on the first Saturday in June each year. Prep is held each day during the week before the sale. You can lend a hand after church on Sunday to set up tables. During the week, help is needed to set out items and price them. On Saturday, volunteers are needed during the sale (in the kitchen, too!) and for clean–up. Please click on the link for more information.
Special Music for Worship Services — Special Music is often needed for the 8:00 am worship services from September to June, for the 9:30 am worship services in the summer, as well as special services throughout the year such as lovefeasts and Holy Week. Please speak with Ryan Morrow, our Director of Music Ministry, at any time. Whether you are a singer or an instrumentalist, he will be delighted to have you share your musical abilities with the congregation.
Summerfest — Leaders and Shepherds are needed for our Summerfest program for the children of the church each summer. You can help just once or as many times as you like! Summerfest is great for people who can’t commit to leading a weekly Sunday School class but still want to teach Schoeneck’s children about Jesus. Please click on the link for more information and watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Summer Lunch Program — The Summer Lunch Program provides a free, brown-bagged lunch for children, youth, and older adults living in the Nazareth Area School District. Schoeneck is usually scheduled to prepare lunches for the Summer Lunch Program one week during August. Please watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) — Volunteers are needed for one week in July (Mon. through Fri. approx. 8:30 am to 12:30 pm). Some evenings during the week before VBS will need helpers for set–up as well. Please click on the link for more information and watch the bulletins, newsletters, or social media for announcements.
Worship Assistants — There are many opportunities available for you to prepare for and participate in our worship services. You can volunteer as much as you like for any area you are interested in. For example, if you would like to read scripture during worship services, you can offer to read monthly, quarterly, or once a year. Please click on the link for more information.
Responding To God’s Call To Serve
Schoeneck Moravian Church is a caring congregation actively serving our members and greater community. We are asking each member of Schoeneck (including our youth!) to take some time to pray — reflecting on your abilities, your life experiences, your passions — and consider how God might be calling you to serve.
