Moravians believe that all members of the congregation are ministers of Christ’s Church. Schoeneck Moravian Church loves and serves all by and through the work of its committees, ministry groups, and teams. God asks us to use our spiritual gifts to His service, for our church home, and to help our neighbors.
Sharing the gifts, abilities, and resources God has given us is a practical expression of our commitment to our faith. We ask all members to prayerfully consider ways that they can serve in Christ’s name. By putting our faith into action, a greater understanding of Christ’s purpose is awakened in us.
Choose a ministry (or ministries!) that is something you feel passionate about — from helping with worship or caring for our buildings to invigorating Christian Education opportunities or activities that reach out to and care for the community. These groups help build a stronger sense of community within the church, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose. Our goal is to help everyone discover rewarding and fulfilling opportunities to grow spiritually, to serve Christ, and to serve others according to their gifts, abilities, and resources.
Below are a few of the many opportunities to serve at Schoeneck. Most are open to anyone who wants to participate, including non–members who are interested in a particular facet of our ministry. We want every person to identify their gifts, be willing to use them, and find a place to make a difference.
Christian Education Ministry
Chairperson — JoAnn Heckman
At Schoeneck Moravian Church, we believe God calls each of us to continue to learn more about our faith. Therefore, Christian Education is a vital ministry of our congregation. The Christian Education Ministry includes Sunday School for children and youth, adult Christian Education programs, Bible Studies, Summerfest, Vacation Bible School, and several special events throughout the year.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our programming. We have plenty of big and small opportunities to get involved in this ministry and no experience is required. For more about our Christian Education Ministry, please click here.
Church Leadership
At Schoeneck we are led by an elected Joint Board, comprised of the Board of Elders and the Board of Trustees. Together, these boards work in harmony to foster a thriving, faith–filled community. Confirmed communicant members in good standing are eligible for election to either board. For more information about our Church Leadership, please click here.
Communications Committee
The goal of the Communications Committee is to increase and improve communication between Schoeneck and our congregation, between us and our neighbors, as well as the greater Nazareth area community, in order to maximize our efforts to fulfill our mission statement of following the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in loving and serving all. This committee has a wide variety of responsibilities dealing with the tools of communications for the church.
Congregational Care
Congregational Care encompasses several ministries with the purpose of truly caring for and sharing God’s love with our Schoeneck church family. The various ministries offer care during times of joy, sorrow, illness, or other significant life events. This may involve visitation, prayer, providing meals or prayer shawls, or simply offering a listening ear. For more about our Congregational Care Ministries, please click here.
Hospitality & Fellowship
At Schoeneck we are focused on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for members and visitors. One of the ways we build this warm faith community is through social events and fellowship activities that deepen our faith and enrich our lives by bringing our church family together to get to know one another and deepen friendships. In essence, hospitality and fellowship opportunities play a vital role in making a church feel like a welcoming home for everyone. For more about our Hospitality and Fellowship opportunities, please click here.
Mission & Outreach
Schoeneck is a caring congregation, committed to maintaining an active Christian presence both in our local community, our wider community, and around the world. We support a variety of organizations with our time, our talents, and our treasure. There are many opportunities for everyone, including our children, to be a part of something greater than ourselves. One of the benefits of a church community is that you can do more together than you can on your own. For more about our Mission and Outreach programs, please click here.
Music Ministry
Director of Music Ministry — Ryan Morrow
Our Music Ministry has always been an integral part of the life of the Schoeneck congregation. We have a long tradition of presenting the many musical gifts of our members (and special guests) to enrich our worship. We take great pride in sharing music that enhances our worship services throughout the year and — most importantly — glorifies God through music. For more about our Music Ministry, please click here.
Property Team
Chairperson — Jack Breidinger
The Property Team is made up of men and women with knowledge of those things that are necessary to maintain the appearance, functionality, and safety of our buildings and grounds. Along with the Board of Trustees, they address issues from routine maintenance to upgrades and enhancements that keep everything in great shape. Schoeneck is grateful for the hard–working volunteers who make up the Property Team. Without their help, their time, their insights, and their talents the church would not look or function as beautifully as it does.
Staff Relations Committee
Members — Lori Deutsch, Marissa Graver, Mike Rampulla, Kim Samsel, Melody Stocker
The Staff Relations Committee, consisting of two Elders and two Trustees, works with the church staff to determine goals, job responsibilities, and performance. The committee must be aware of the needs of the Pastor and the staff, and the expectations of the congregation regarding professional and personnel matters. The Staff Relations Committee is always available to address the concerns of the congregation.
Stewardship Team
We believe that stewardship is our total response to God’s grace and gifts, not just our financial response. The Stewardship Team actively promotes the collective and individual stewardship of God’s resources by encouraging the thoughtful use of everyone’s time, talents, and financial resources. We provide leadership in teaching stewardship principles and encouraging intentional giving practices, leading to more effectively living, loving, and serving like Jesus. We also recommend the designations for the Special Offering Envelopes each month.
Recycling Sponsors

Recycling sponsors help defray the cost of our recycling pick–up. The cost is $45 per month, and sponsors are listed in the church newsletter. You may sign up on the Recycling Sponsor sheet on the bulletin board outside the Church Office.
Worship Support
Schoeneck’s worship support teams play a vital role in facilitating meaningful and engaging worship experiences by providing help in planning, organizing, and implementing the different aspects of our worship services. These teams include the Worship & Music Committee, our various worship assistants, as well as technical support for our live-stream. For more about our Worship Support ministries, please click here.
