The summer months are always exciting for children at Schoeneck! Our Christian Education programs do not “shut down” for the summer. Instead, we offer two fun, faith-filled programs — Summerfest and Vacation Bible School (VBS)!

Summerfest
On the third Sunday in June each year, worship moves to just one service at 9:30 am. Summerfest begins on the first Sunday of our Summer Schedule. The Summerfest program is for all children ages 3 through 5th grade. Youth in 6th grade and older are encouraged to be shepherds for Summerfest.
The children go with their family to the worship service. After the Children’s Message they are dismissed to Summerfest for a fun time together. Each year has a special theme, and our time together includes telling stories, doing crafts, playing games, and learning about God, ourselves, and one another! We encourage kids to ask questions, be themselves, and leave our church knowing that God and this congregation loves them, and that church is fun!
Adult volunteers are needed to be leaders and assistants. You do not need to sign up for the entire summer — you can help just once or as many times as you like! You can choose to be a leader one time and an assistant another time. Summerfest is great for people who can’t commit to leading a weekly Sunday School class but still want to teach Schoeneck’s children about Jesus.
If you are interested in leading or assisting for Summerfest, please contact JoAnn Heckman at [email protected].

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Our Vacation Bible School is a long-running ministry outreach program which teaches children about the role God plays in their lives. For one week each summer, children gather right here at Schoeneck for three hours in the morning.
Our VBS program is for children ages 3 through 5th grade. Youth in 6th grade and older are encouraged to be helpers for VBS. Children do not need to be a member of Schoeneck to attend — we welcome children from the community and other churches to join us.
The VBS program changes each year, bringing a variety of biblical stories, fun activities, and new friends to the children. With storytelling, crafts, games, snacks, music, science, and more, the children learn about God’s love for us and how we can share God’s love with others.
Each year our offerings are given to a local organization and we collect items for another organization. Sometimes these mission and outreach organizations are one and the same.
VBS kids take away life lessons about treating others with respect, a deeper understanding of faith, and improved social skills. Younger kids get a feel for camp without having to go away overnight.
VBS is usually held in July and registration is typically available about six weeks prior to VBS. For more information, please contact Pam Stampf at [email protected].
Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed for one week in July (Mon. through Fri. approx. 8:30 am to 12:30 pm). Some evenings during the week before VBS will need helpers for set–up as well. We are always in search of Bible story leaders, craft leaders, game leaders, and kitchen helpers. Youth in 6th grade and older are encouraged to serve as class helpers. The only requirement is to love God and children, AND if over 18 years old you must have the proper clearances on file at the church. Background checks and clearances are provided at no cost to the volunteer.
