The Moravian Church’s commitment to outdoor ministries offers an escape from the fast-paced world and unique opportunities for spiritual growth in both children and adults. There are several opportunities to participate in events with other Moravian children and youth throughout our Eastern District each year. Many are held at Camp Hope in Hope, NJ — which offers a variety of week-long traditional, arts, retreat, and mission camps throughout the year. Camp Hope also offers weekend camping opportunities for families, holidays, and other special occasions.

Volunteering At Camp Hope
Volunteers play a vital role in Hope Center’s ministry to young people. Schoeneck’s adult congregation members and friends can use their talents as counselors, nurses, program leaders, and role models. Volunteering is a great way to spend more time at camp and enjoy sharing the camp experience with young campers.
- Adult Counselors: (age 18 and up, and two years older than the oldest campers being supervised) are essential for making a safe and enjoyable week at camp for all age groups. Counselors stay in cabins with the campers and provide supervision throughout the day.
- Junior Counselors: (age 16 and two years older than the oldest campers being supervised) can help at Pre-Primary, Primary, Middler, Swim, and Musical Theater Camps. Junior Counselors stay in cabins with campers and assist Counselors and program staff throughout the day.
- Nurses & EMTs: Camp is always looking for individuals to serve as health care providers during each week of summer camp. You must hold a current certification but you need not be certified in New Jersey. Private air-conditioned quarters with bathroom and shower facilities are provided. The Nurse is present for all program events to oversee safety for all participants and is available for first aid and to dispense medication for all campers and staff. Meals, prayer, and pool time are part of the package! Please share your skills with our campers and staff by contacting the Hope Office directly at 908-459-4435.
How do I sign up? Volunteer staff can also download documents online by going to the Volunteers page of the website or contact the Hope Center office to volunteer.
Seasonal Employment Opportunities are also available at Camp Hope. Please visit the Employment page of the website for more information.

Schoeneck Moravian Church offers a generous 50% tuition reimbursement through the Kyle Butz Memorial Fund for children and youth wishing to attend week–long summer camps at Camp Hope. Please contact the Church Office at 610-759-0376 for more information.
