Children, Youth & Young Adults

This image contains four images of Jesus Christ with different age groups of children and youth, and four scripture verses. The first image features Jesus is sitting on the ground holding an infant in his arms, and there are several small boys and girls sitting in a circle around them. "And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them." Matthew 10:16. The second image is of Jesus standing amongst a group of kids. It is obvious they are all laughing and playing, including Jesus. "Jesus said to them 'Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.'" Mark 10:14. The third image shows a bunch of teenagers walking with Jesus down a wooded path. They are engaged in conversation together. "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12. And the final image shows Jesus sitting in a living room with a number of young adults. They are having a conversation and enjoying each other's company. "Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:22.

At Schoeneck Moravian Church children, youth, and young adults are vitally important members of our faith community. Our ministry to these age groups impacts the heart of both the present and future church. Too often children and young people are considered “the church of tomorrow.” The fact is, if there is to be a “church of tomorrow,” we must help children, youth, and young adults embrace their role as the church of today.

Schoeneck’s programs for these age groups focus on nurturing their spiritual growth, teaching them about the Moravian church, and helping them lead healthy lives. We seek to learn, grow, and have fun together as part of a spiritual formation program that incorporates worship, study, fellowship, and service. Schoeneck offers a range of activities both within and outside the church setting.

Our Children, Youth & Young Adult Programs

Here’s a more detailed look at what our program for each age group includes:

  • Gospel–Centered Learning: Our Christian Education Ministry uses curriculum with age–appropriate Scripture lessons, activities, and discussions for our children and youth. Our Young Adult resources vary from traditional Bible studies to ones that link current events and pop culture to the Christian faith.
  • Worship Experiences: Children, youth, and young adults are encouraged to attend and participate in worship services, which fosters a deeper connection with God. There are plenty of opportunities available to become involved in helping with worship on Sunday mornings.
  • Spiritual Growth: Lessons, fellowship activities, and service projects help children and young people develop a personal relationship with Jesus, understand God’s love for them, and learn how to apply biblical principles in their daily lives.
  • Service and Outreach: Our programs encourage participation in community service projects, fostering a spirit of generosity and compassion. There are many ways for children, youth, and young adults to follow our Savior’s example in loving and serving all.
  • Fellowship Activities: Children have opportunities to interact with their peers, learn to navigate social situations, and develop positive character traits. Youth and young adults have opportunities to form lasting friendships for connection, encouragement, and support.

Overall, Schoeneck aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children, youth, and young adults can learn about God, grow in their faith, and develop into well–rounded individuals who can make a positive impact on the world.

We have divided the information for each age group as follows:

Schoeneck Moravian Church is committed to offering an inclusive learning environment for all families. Children with support needs are encouraged and welcomed in any of our activities. If special accommodation or aid is required, we will make every effort to provide the services and resources necessary for success. For questions, concerns, or to inquire further, please contact Pastor Ian.

Please Note: Schoeneck Moravian Church practices the Safe Sanctuary program, a policy ensuring the proper care of children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our community, which balances ministry and caution. All staff and volunteers who interact with our children and youth must obtain the proper background checks and child–abuse clearances before they begin working with our kids. Background checks and clearances are provided at no cost to the volunteer.
